  • The Air NORTH magazine is at the forefront of local aviation society newsletters thanks in part to the range, quantity and quality of the articles it contains every month. These articles, more often including photographs, show the huge depth of knowledge, and writing talent, of Air NORTH's contributors.     Bowes Railway Museum Annual Children's Day 2004 - September 2004
    - Take 12 military helicopters from seven different air arms and five different countries, add an extremely hard-working organiser, his little army of helpers (including two Air North members!) and countless bus-loads of happy children. Mix well, and you get what was probably the best ever aviation event held in the North East so far. This is probably our most comprehensive look at the arrivals and departures for an event in addition to the day itself, profusely illustrated and packed with memories of the event.

    Northumberland County Show 2004 - July 2004

    February 2004: "The Region's Second Presidential Visit"
    - the full story of the aviation assets employed during George Bush's visit to Teesside Airport in November 2003, including the run-up to the visit and the aftermath. Liberally sprinkled with photos and descriptions of the various aircraft involved, this article is arguably the most detailed account of the aviation assets used during this historic event.

    February 2004: "The Cullercoats Whirlwind"
    - the story of how the crew of an air-sea-rescue Whirlwind from RAF Acklington needed to be rescued themselves, following a crash near Tynemouth in August 1961.

    February 2004: "The Havaclilik Muzesi - Istanbul"

    September 2003: "The 2003 Thirsk Balloon Meet"
    - one Air North member's account of a pleasant weekend spent as a member of the Pennine Balloon Association, at their yearly meet held at Thirsk racecourse.

    The story of how a Supermarine Seagull flying boat racer came to grief in the Newcastle area during a race in 1924.

    June 2000 Elvington/RAF Linton on Ouse Base Tour.
    The article profiles the guided tours that Air North enjoyed at both airfields, detailing the aircraft and the current RAF training syllabus.
